Save the earth one page at a time - print less, eco-friendly software

No matter how good our intentions most of us print out documents just to read them. The reason is simple - we hate reading on-screen. The fonts are awful, the glare disturbing, we read slower, it’s harder to concentrate.

ReadPal solves these problems for you by extracting the text from whatever you are reading and re-presenting it to you in an eye and brain-friendly way. Because it is so much faster, nicer and easier to read on-screen you’ll no longer print things out just to read them.

Now we can all sleep soundly in our beds knowing that the trees are safe.

Oh, forgot to mention, you’ll save a packet of money too. Printing is mighty expensive.

Pructivity -increase the productivity of your number # 1 use of computers

We spend more time reading at our computers than any other work activity. (Unless you work in a sleep lab). So reading efficiency and productivity are key to your overall effectiveness.

Most documents are written in small fonts using Times New Roman or Currier fonts. This is a disaster for on-screen reading. One of the reasons so many people print documents just to read them.

If you spend a lot of work-time reading ReadPal can transform your office productivity by helping you zip through those documents and emails. Its reading modes are configured to give maximum speed and comfort. Not only do you read faster but there is less glare and eye-strain … so you’ll leave work feeling refreshed. (No guarantees - we can’t do much about your boss).

ReadPal will work with the Microsoft Office productivity suite, (MS Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, text files).

So download it now and see how much quicker you’ll be getting through your work. Productivity for the office worker

Speed Reading Program - The official launch

ReadPal’s Speed Reading Bundle is now officially up and running. Thank you to all of you who gave feedback and suggestions, (even those hard to palate!).

The Bundle has some unique features. There is the incomparable ReadPal. This has a double benefit. Increasing your reading speed is primarily about training and habit. However, most speed reading programs do not integrate with Microsoft applications. This means that whenever they go back to reading on-screen there is a tendency to slow down. (People normally read much more slowly on-screen and this lower speed becomes ingrained; see ReadPal for all the reasons why). Using ReadPal you can set you new reading speed and it will present everything you read at this new speed.

Secondly, you can practice doing your drills and exercises on most material so you save time. E.g. you can do many of the exercises, using ReadPal, on your study or work material; stuff you need to read anyway.

The course content is set out in the speed reading PDF. This not only gives the background and theory of speed reading techniques it intergrates with and guides you through the exercises.

Lastly, at only $79, it is great value. Visit the site for full details.

“Entrez PubMed avec nous” - a better way to read PubMed

Entrez PubMed avec nous!

One of the motivators in developing ReadPal was to help me read the medical literature more easily, particularly pubmed. I just wouldn’t enjoy reading a long abstract on-screen. Printing was hassle. They say that if something annoys you sufficiently you have the basis of an invention. Annoyance, not necessity, being the mother of invention. Anyway I hope ReadPal helps you get through your scientific reading more quickly and comfortably.

ENtrez Pubmed
Using ReadPal the text is clear and large. In this example it uses 20% grey on black. This reduces glare. (To really get rid of glare and all clutter use the full screen mode). Pubmed use a serif font. This looks great when printed but makes for a poor on-screen experience. (Serifs are the little tails on letters).

The picture is of the Column Mode of reading. Newspapers are divided into columns as they are easy to read. Imagine if the text stretched across a page. The eyes would get lost. ReadPal optimises the column width for you - making it brain and eye friendly.

If you need to rapidly get through a document consider using the AutoSkim function and if it is a long document maybe the Sentence Mode. (The active reading modes pace you. This prevents the slowing down and drifting that people often experience when reading on-screen).

Clcik here for ReadPal’s Pubmed page.
